The german tennis star Boris Becker has been declared bankrupt by a british court after he failed to pay a long-standing debt. A lawyer for the six-time Grand Slam champion pleaded with a Bankruptcy Court registrar in London for a last chance to pay a debt that Becker has owed to private bankers Arbuthnot Latham & Co since 2015.

Boris Becker is part of PartyPoker ambassador team, altogether with sponsored pros like Patrick Leonard, Roberto Romanello, Sam Trickett, Natalia Breviglieri, Jackie Glazier, Tony Dunst, four-time world champion boxer Carl Froch and  the legendary poker commentator Mike Sexton.

Boris proudly said with enthusiasm about his last year’s entry into the poker world:

“I am equally competitive at the poker table as I was on the tennis court, so I’m really excited to be partnering with partypoker and taking on players around the world. I learned to play poker a long time ago; it’s a game of skill and perseverance, so I’m hoping to use my experience on the tennis court to my advantage. Partypoker has some world class tournaments coming up and I look forward to playing online as well as live at the partypoker MILLIONS in April, so see you there!”

Becker, who was the youngest player to win the men’s singles championship and went on to win it again in 1986 and 1989, was once estimated to be worth upwards of £100 million. It is unbelievable, when a man with a fairy-tale income declared bankrupt. We will see how his sponsor PartyPoker and Head poker manager Tom Waters will answer to this. It is quite possible, that Boris will no longer stay as a proud ambassador at any live PartyPoker festival.
